‘Keeping It Fresh’ Technical Workshop
The New Zealand Society for Viticulture and Oenology is excited to announce its theme for the 2024 Technical Workshop - ‘Keeping It Fresh’.
Divided into five sessions, NZSVO’s workshop will weave its way through the complex wine sector - touching on ‘fresh thinking’ at every stop. Consider unique perspectives, technology and trials, wine trends, packaging innovations and consumer facing strategies. The NZSVO will integrate themed tastings within the program so delegates can assess the content of presentations in the glass as well as interact with speakers and peers in a collaborative environment.

The Tonnellerie De Mercurey Marlborough Young Winemaker of the Year Competition 2024
The Young Winemaker of the Year competition is an opportunity for ambitious young people to become future leaders of the New Zealand wine industry. This exciting competition is open to those aged 30 years and younger and everyone working in wine production including laboratory, cellar hand and winemaking. There will be three regional finals in 2024. The winner from each will then go through to represent their region in the National Final on 27 August at Foley Wine’s The Runholder in Wairarapa. The winner will be announced at the Altogether Unique Celebration Dinner on 29 August.

Join us on the last Monday of every month for "Research Snapshots," a dynamic series of research presentations from organisations within the New Zealand Wine Centre (Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, Plant and Food Research, and Bragato Research Institute). GNS Science Presentation: Mapping the characteristics of sediments of the Wairau Plain
GNS Science will present the research findings at a public meeting on Thursday 11 July at Blenheim’s Scenic Hotel Marlborough from 5.30 to 6.30 pm. Members of the community, environmental groups, senior school students, local business and industry, and iwi are all encouraged to attend. The GNS Science presentation will deliver the research findings using compelling visuals.

2024 Young Viticulturist Competition
Recognising that great wines begin in the vineyard, the Young Viticulturist of the Year competition celebrates the future of viticulture. This prestigious competition is open to those aged 30 years and younger and tests the wide range of skills required to be a successful vit. There are five regional competitions this year with the National Final being held on 28 August at Escarpment in Wairarapa.
The Marlborough competition will be held on 4 July 2024.
