  • In September 2023, the Marlborough Winegrowers board sought feedback on Marlborough’s Geographical Indications boundary, five years after its establishment, to test if there was still widespread support amongst members of the Marlborough wine industry for the boundary as it lies. Information and views were published in the September 2023 issue of WinePress which can still be accessed. As part of this review, the board approached wine law specialist Dr John Barker to investigate options that could be available to them to guide decision making.

That report by John Barker Law and member feedback was considered at the subsequent meeting of the board. While there was not sufficient interest registered that warranted the board pursuing this at that time, the board recommended that the paper be made available for members to review options and consider them.

As always, please feel to make your views known by contacting General Manager, Marcus Pickens on marcus@winemarlborough.nz
